Why it matters

A rare New York research program whose own FAQ says F-1 and J-1 students may take part using CPT or OPT, which makes it realistic for international computer science students.

Who can apply

U.S. citizensGreen-card holdersDACA / TPSRefugees and asyleesInternational students (F-1 and other visas)

The eligibility FAQ says the program accepts applications from non-U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited college, that accepted interns must show eligibility to work in the U.S., and that F-1 or J-1 student visas are acceptable with OPT or CPT. No visa sponsorship.

Eligibility

Current undergraduates majoring in computer science, applied math or a related field at an accredited college, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and completed college-level programming coursework (C/C++, Python, R). Interest in applying computation to biology. Biology courses preferred but not required. Two faculty recommendation letters, an essay and an unofficial transcript. Confirm your class year with sciencesummer@mskcc.org, as the two official pages word it differently.
